World Rhythm Synergy – Young Audiences of Houston Presentation World Rhythm Synergy is a high-energy multicultural presentation that infuses explosive drumming with a meaningful lesson about world culture, world history and human nature. Using percussion instruments from all over the world, musician Dan Egger-Belandria demonstrates how people of different cultural backgrounds connect through drumming and dance. From Africa to the Caribbean; South, Central and North America, World Rhythm Synergy is a musical field trip that children can envision while learning. He introduces the idea of music, movement and mediation and as a healthy, active and creative tool for managing some of the stresses a child may experience while growing up in today’s world. He provides children an opportunity to explore various African, Afro-Cuban, and Caribbean rhythms and folklore that help explain the connection between African-American history and Hispanic heritage and the synergy between cultures. Dan is an ethnomusicologist, a musician studying the sociology of music or the history of music. His educational program is available from Young Audiences of Houston www.yahouston.org. His program will have students playing, dancing, rapping, clapping, laughing…and learning!
