Within My Reach!
These art programs are individually developed to support children and adults with special needs. Students with Down’s Syndrome, autism, or other developmental, intellectual or physical disabilities are benefitting from Within My Reach (WMR) programs that teach life skills and train in an art vocation. The "Within My Reach" Program increases a student's confidence, and promotes inclusion and acceptance in our society. Teachers and parents are looking for ways their students or children with special needs can achieve their potential to a become happier, well connected and productive members of the community. ARTreach programs in this arena are working to support continued education, social skills development, and enrichment to improve the overall quality of life for individuals with special needs.

Within My Reach

Magazine about Within My Reach. ARTreach creates opportunities for children and adults with cognitive, intellectual, and developmental disabilities to be a participating and respected member of our community. The program helps students achieve the full extent of their ability and to grow in mind, body, and spirit.

ARTreach offers a growing list of WITHIN MY REACH Programs available thorugh ARTreach as offered by professional artists and presenters! These unique programs are mainly developed to support Life Skills and/or cultural enrichment. Art is introudced through a range of ARTreach Programs offered at the ARTreach Studio, or on site at community day care programs, schools and learning centers. These ARTreach programs are professionally directed by specialized and trained staff and reserved directors, assistants are special needs teachers.

Rhythm Journey - is a powerful experience of rhythmic collaboration through which students explore self awareness and self expression facilitated by Dan Egger-Belandria. Dan uses call and response techniques to develop the group's drumming vocabulary while emphasizing key learning points around team and relationship building. This is a hands-on approach to breaking down barriers within a group to create a shared vision that is fun and rewarding! This ARTreach Program is available in English and Spanish.

Holiday Workshops
Always a favorite- Creating holiday ornaments for the community Christmas tree! Valentine Letter Boxes, Cinco de Mayo Piñatas, Halloween decorations, November Turkey place markers and napkin rings.

Vocational ART Workshops and Within My Reach Enterprise Programs for adults with special needs
ARTreach create opportunities for children and adults with cognitive, intellectual, and developmental disabilities to be a participating and respected member of our community. Art activities, music and dance are stimulating and enriching and can help a person achieve the full extent of their ability. ARTreach offers presenations, workshops,  life skills and vocational art training at our ARTreach Studio in Katy, in schools, home, and in adult day care centers.  Agencies can apply for ARTreach program support available through the Texas Commission on the Arts.

Within My Reach! Enterprise Program
This is a Life Skills Program for adults with disabilities. Participants are trained in a slump mold technique and fired bisque ceramics to create a sellable line of Dinner ARTware, tee-shirts and other functioning works of art designed by the participants. Sales benefit the students.  Students are exposed to basic entreprenurial practices to sell and earn money thourgh their own enterprise venture.

ARTreach is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that provides mentoring and art-related programs to a growing population of children at risk, children and adults with special needs, the elderly and others in need.
