 Houston Safari Club named Vickie McMillan "Artist of the Year". The following painting was used on the front cover of the Members Roster.
Vickie McMillan, wildlife artist
Vickie McMillan, Native Texan and Master in acrylics and watercolor, studied at the Maryland Institute Collage of Art and earned a BFA in Watercolor at the University of North Texas. Her paintings, collaborative murals, and workshops bridge the barriers of ethnicity, belief, culture, language and economic status. Through the use of paint, Vickie brings the arts to impoverished people around the world including Uganda, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Mexico, China, Hong Kong and the Philippines. In return, she shares her experiences with students, teachers, artists and organizations in the US to encourage, inspire and empower a love of the arts.

- Program Diector for ARTreach bringing art-related programs and services to the underprivleged and underserved, including children at risk, troubled youth, children and adults with special needs, victims of crime, and the elderly.
Vickie has received awards, publishings, documentaries, held gallery exhibitions, one-man shows in the US and aboad. Since 2006, Vickie has studied the cultures, geography, wildlife conservation, Animal-Rehabilitation/Endangered Centers as a missionary in Africa.
Vickie's inspiring stories, paintings, photographs, music and artifacts from abroad is a rich resource within her programs. Specific programs include:
- Public murals either a collaborative project working with students to formulate the design and implement the mural or a predetermined image executed by Vickie.
