Varsha Tyagi

I came to USA in 2002 after getting married to the love of my life. In 2004, I joined the Bay area artist association in California. There I had the opportunity to exhibit my works in their juried and annual show receiving the 'award of honor' for my painting EARTH: Peace: My World. I moved to Katy in December 2006 and joined ARTreach in March 2009.

My favorite medium to use currently is acrylic paints.  I also enjoy dry pastels very much. My style of painting can be termed as creative, figurative abstract, though I paint flowers and landscape when I want to lighten up.

Though every day emotions have left a deep impression on my works, I feel that Indian Miniature paintings left a lasting impression on my art, which I got an opportunity to be up close during first year on my art school. I love the colorful vibrations and romantic themes of Kangra and Kishangarh miniature paintings.

Design and colors are the essential elements of my works.

I am most inspired by nature.

Emotions and love are the theme which moves me the most.

The series Five Elements and Love is based on concept of the five elements as in Indian philosophy.

The five elements are; Water, Fire, Earth, Air and Space.

These five elements preexist in nature.

They come together and support each other. And in some ways makes it possible for the whole universe to exist.

Natures beauty always intrigued me. Last year in spring, something caught my attention like never before ."Trees" I was surrounded with them. Each one had a personality and character of their own . My series "Trees " is the tribute to our friends .Who exist around us silently ,bringing joy and beauty to our life of humdrum. Some abstract works and some studies were done by me over last year.I continue to paint more tress for now and will upload them to my web album as I finish them.
