The MISSION of ARTreach is to bring the arts to underserved communities including children at risk, senior citizens/ fragile elderly, children and adults with special needs.

ARTreach designs and delivers specialized art programs benefiting underserved populations in the Greater Houston and Fort Bend County area. ARTreach works in partnership with non-profit groups, social service agencies, school districts, the community and the State to support the development of ongoing programs. ARTreach program support is available from the Texas Commission on the Arts.

ARTreach Programs work to address the educational and social needs of neglected populations. ARTreach methodologies support social skills, education, juvenile justice, health and wellness. Programs will measure improvements in grades, behavior, attitude, participation, health and quality of life. ARTreach assures high standards related to artistic integrity, capabilities and impact. ARTreach works with artists and volunteers who are professionally trained to support the successful delivery of visual and performing art programs in underserved communities. ARTreach Programs include:
  • Mentoring through Art – specialized classroom, studio and after-school programs serving children at risk. These programs will measure an impact on overall grades and/or behavior. ARTreach introduces positive role models and professional artists who promote teamwork and participation while nurturing a child's self confidence and sense of belonging. Mentoring through Art programs are specialized to support educational objectives as well as social development and life skills of children at risk, in foster care, placement centers, shelters and juvenile detention centers. 
  • Within My Reach - specialized vocational art programs designed to serve individuals with developmental, intellectual or physical disabilities that support educational objectives, social and life skills. 
  • ARTbeat - programs intended to improve the mental, emotional and physical states of senior citizens, the fragile elderly and individuals with Alzheimer’s.
  • ARTreach & Achieve - dedicated to meeting the needs of gifted and talented students, this includes community-based program scholarships for the financially disadvantaged, children in foster care children and individuals with special needs
  • Community Programs –includes Community-based Studio programs in Houston inner-city, Texas touring artists, school assemblies, library presentations and public events promoting cultural development in underserved communities.

Through innovative programming and partnerships, ARTreach has grown to become a nationally recognized leader in the field of art outreach targeting neglected populations. Awards include Texas Association Partners in Education TAPE Fort Bend ISD Leader in Innovative Art Partnerships, (IIE) International Institute of Education/programs encouraging minority participation, and Americans For the Arts Program of the Year. ARTreach is recognized by the State, and our programs are approved for funding by the Texas Commission on the Arts.
